PRIVACY POLICY

What Gem Explorer collects, what it doesn't, and exactly how to make us delete it.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

1. The short version

Gem Explorer is built to need as little about you as possible.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those five points.

2. Who we are

Gem Explorer ("the game", "we", "us") is published by XTO.au, of L1 457 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010. This policy covers the Gem Explorer mobile application and this website.

For anything at all relating to your data, the address is support@xto.au.

3. What we collect

a. Information you choose to give us

The game has exactly one input of this kind: a display name for the leaderboard. You are never asked for it up front and you can ignore the prompt indefinitely — guests play the full game. If you do claim a name, we store that name together with your score, and both are shown publicly on the in-game leaderboard.

Please do not use your real full name, an email address, or anything else identifying as your display name. Pick something you are happy for strangers to see, because everyone will.

b. Information collected automatically

When you submit a score to the leaderboard, our server receives the score itself, the destination and run statistics attached to it, the display name you claimed, and the IP address the request came from. IP addresses are used only to prevent abuse and cheating, and are not used to build any profile of you.

c. Information stored on your device only

Your game progress — coins, unlocked destinations, museum artifacts, chests, relics, awards, streaks, settings and audio preferences — is stored locally on your device using standard browser and app storage. We cannot see it. It never leaves your phone unless you submit a score. Uninstalling the game or clearing its storage erases it permanently, and we have no copy and no way to restore it.

4. What we never collect

5. How we use what we collect

We use it to run the leaderboard, to keep the leaderboard honest, to answer your support emails, and to fix the game when it breaks. That is the complete list.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not email you marketing, because we do not have your email address.

6. Advertising

Gem Explorer shows rewarded ads only — the kind you deliberately choose to watch in exchange for an in-game bonus. There are no forced ads, no interstitials between levels, and no banners.

These ads are delivered by Google AdMob. To serve them, AdMob may collect device information including your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device type and operating system, and general ad interaction data. This processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy rather than ours:

You can limit this at the operating system level. On Android, open Settings → Privacy → Ads to delete or reset your advertising ID, or to opt out of ad personalisation entirely. The game keeps working exactly the same either way.

7. Who we share information with

We share data with three categories of recipient and no others:

We have never sold personal information and have no plans to start.

8. How long we keep it

9. Children's privacy

Gem Explorer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The only personal data the game can collect is a self-chosen display name.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted a display name, email support@xto.au and we will remove the entry promptly. Please include the display name so we can find it.

10. Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in Europe, the Privacy Act in Australia, and the CCPA in California — you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we process it, or receive a copy of it.

Because the game collects so little, most of these come down to one action: removing your leaderboard entry. To do that, email support@xto.au with your display name and we will delete it. We aim to respond within 30 days, and we will not charge you or make you jump through hoops.

To delete everything else, uninstall the game or clear its storage from your device settings. That erases your entire local save, and neither you nor we can recover it afterwards.

If you are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Security

Leaderboard data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. That said, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. The genuine protection here is structural rather than technical: there is very little worth stealing, because we deliberately never collected it.

12. International transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country, so submitting a score may involve transferring data internationally. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will make that clear in the game itself rather than quietly editing the page and hoping nobody notices.

14. Contact us
